Bushnell Launch Pro and Foresight GC3 Space Requirements: What Each Maker Publishes

By Evan Reid, with research from the HPG Research Team · Updated Oct. 7, 2026

For a Bushnell Launch Pro or Foresight GC3 in a garage or basement, the room sets the space requirements: both makers publish the same size and weight.

Their room widths run 6 feet to 20, so plan around your enclosure's minimums. Bushnell lists 12 by 18 feet with 9 feet overhead for its 10' enclosure, or 10 by 18 with 8 feet for the 8'. Under 9 feet overhead, swing a driver first; Foresight calls 8.5 feet irons-only. With equal footprints, price decides it: the Launch Pro is our pick at $2,999.99 as of October 1, 2026, against the GC3's $6,999.

Bushnell's Launch Pro page says club data requires a subscription yet lists a Free tier, so ask Bushnell in writing. Even with a year of Gold at $599 as of that date, the Launch Pro undercuts the GC3, by our arithmetic.

In September 2026, we read five manuals, both makers' product and package pages, and three Foresight blog guides.

The short answer:

  • 12 by 18 feet, with 9 feet overhead: get the 10' enclosure bundle. Its frame stands 10 feet wide and 8'6" high, 2 feet wider and a foot taller than the 8', by our arithmetic. Foresight calls 10 feet "the practical minimum for a comfortable full driver swing," so swing a driver there first. See the simulator bundles at Bushnell Golf
  • 10 to 12 feet wide: the 8' enclosure, which needs 10 feet of width, 18 of depth and an 8 foot ceiling.
  • A GC3 in a room as narrow as 10 feet: Foresight's SIM IN A BOX Play 10' GC3, at $11,999 as of October 1, 2026. Plan on 20 feet of full depth.
  • Under 10 feet clear: a net and the Launch Pro alone, in the 14 x 6 x 7 feet Bushnell's buyer's guide recommends. Swing a driver in the space before you plan on it.
  • A left-handed golfer in the house: the unit moves to the other side of the ball, which neither manual spells out, so plan on at least 12 feet clear.

Ceiling height and room width decide whether a full driver swing fits, whichever launch monitor you pick.

Launch Pro vs GC3: the same footprint, so what decides it?

Price and software terms decide it, since the room is the same for both.

Read across the rows: every one matches but the price, and both prices are as of October 1, 2026.

The price gap comes with different software wording. One question sets what a Launch Pro really costs you: what it shows without a paid plan. Bushnell's Launch Pro page says "CLUB DATA REQUIRES A SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTION," and its Launch Pro Indoor page says ball and club data "REQUIRE A SOFTWARE SUBSCRIPTION."

Yet the Foresight+ membership table on both pages lists a Free tier next to Silver at $199 a year and Gold at $599 a year, as of October 1, 2026. The same pages sum up the Free tier as "Ball data on every device" and "Club data on Foresight-branded devices."

On the GC3 side, Foresight's GC3 page description says "No subscription required." Foresight's 2026 room setup guide also lists a subscription version, the GC3S, as "GC3S (subscription)" next to "GC3 Ball Enabled (subscription-free)." The GC3S was not listed in Foresight's online store when checked on October 1, 2026.

Bushnell also sells a Launch Pro Indoor ($1,999.99, "Indoor only," sold out when checked on October 1, 2026) with the same published size and hitting zone. If it's back in stock and the unit will stay indoors, it costs $1,000 less than the Launch Pro at October 1, 2026 prices, by our arithmetic. Its page puts ball data behind the subscription too, so ask Bushnell the same question.

Confirm before you order: ask Bushnell which data the Free tier gives a Launch Pro, and price it with a paid tier until Bushnell answers. A year of Gold at $599 brings the Launch Pro to $3,598.99 at October 1, 2026 prices, just over half the GC3's $6,999, by our arithmetic, and each yearly renewal narrows that gap. If Bushnell won't say, the GC3's own page says "No subscription required"; ask Foresight which version ships. If Bushnell's answer suits you, the Launch Pro is ready to order.

Bushnell Launch Pro space requirements

Bushnell publishes two sets of room numbers, and they don't match. Plan around the bundle pages, the larger set.

Find your clear width in the minimum width column, then check that row's ceiling and depth; Bushnell's Simulator Fit Check gives the same figures.

Bushnell bundleEnclosure (frame only)Minimum ceilingMinimum widthMinimum depth
8' enclosure7'6" high, 8' wide, 17' long8 ft10 ft18 ft
10' enclosure8'6" high, 10' wide, 17' long9 ft12 ft18 ft

Bushnell says those minimums "add the room you actually need: ceiling clearance at the top of your swing, width for netting and walls, and depth for the hitting position plus a walkway behind you." It also tells you to measure "your lowest ceiling point (joists, ducts, lights)" and the clear floor area, not wall to wall. So measure width from whatever stands along one wall to whatever stands along the other.

A golfer at the top of the backswing in an indoor simulator with dark side curtains
Bushnell says to measure to the lowest point overhead, including joists, ducts and lights as well as the ceiling.

The Launch Pro buyer's guide gives smaller numbers. For taking the Launch Pro indoors with a net, it says to "ensure you have 13 feet of depth to track ball flight, at least 6 feet of width, and enough ceiling height to safely swing your club," and recommends 14 x 6 x 7 feet. For its premium simulator bundle, it recommends 18 x 12 x 9 feet.

Bushnell doesn't label those three numbers. Read in the same depth, width and ceiling order as its 18 x 12 x 9 figure, that is a 6 foot wide, 7 foot high room. That's 4 feet narrower and a foot lower than Bushnell's own smallest enclosure asks for, so use the bundle figures unless you've checked your full swing in the space.

Foresight GC3 space requirements

Foresight doesn't publish a room size on the GC3 page itself. Its guides give room sizes for any home simulator, and they've changed over time, so plan on the 2026 one.

In Foresight's 2026 room setup guide (July 6, 2026), the note column holds the caveat that matters in a tight room.

Foresight's figureForesight's note
Ceiling10 feet"9 feet works for many; 8.5 feet for irons only"
Width12 to 15 feet"More width supports both right and left handed players"
Depth15 to 18 feet"Depends on launch monitor and tracking technology"

The same guide says "For most golfers, 10 feet of ceiling height is the practical minimum for a comfortable full driver swing," and that Foresight's SIM IN A BOX Play 10' "fits in spaces as narrow as 10 feet wide." Foresight's 10 foot ceiling is a foot higher than the 9 feet Bushnell lists for its 10' enclosure. For what that gap means in a 9 foot room, see our guide to golf simulators for a 9 foot ceiling.

Foresight's 2021 buyer's guide is still live and asks for more: "We recommend a space with ceilings of at least 10-feet high and a minimum width of 20-feet. However 9-foot ceilings and narrower widths can work for certain configurations."

The GC3 simulator package. The SIM IN A BOX Play 10' GC3 ($11,999 as of October 1, 2026) lists its enclosure at 10 feet wide, 5'4" deep and 8'6" high. Its assembly manual says to place the front of the hitting mat about 8 feet from the screen and the back of the PC cart about 17 feet from the screen. The product page lists a full depth, including the projector, of 20 feet.

Plan on the 20 feet, since that figure counts the projector. For a GC3 bay in a room as narrow as 10 feet, the Play 10' is the package Foresight says fits. If your room is 10 feet wide but short of 20 feet deep, Bushnell's 8' bundle, with its 18 foot minimum depth, is the one that fits on paper. If you're short of 18 feet too, our guide to the best launch monitor for a small space compares 11 launch monitors by where each one sits and the room figures their makers publish.

They split most on width, from 6 feet to 20, and each row is a different setup.

Bushnell's 8' bundle lists an 8 foot minimum ceiling, while Foresight calls 8.5 feet an irons-only height. Both companies sell simulator packages built around launch monitors with the same published specs, so the gap between them is advice about the same hardware.

Say your basement ceiling is 8 feet 6 inches. On Bushnell's numbers you clear the 8' bundle, and on Foresight's you're at the irons-only line. Before you spend on an enclosure, take a full driver swing where the ball will sit.

Six questions settle what the documents leave open. Send them before you order:

  1. To Bushnell: On a Launch Pro, does the Foresight+ Free tier include ball data, club data or both?
  2. To Bushnell: In the buyer's guide's 14 x 6 x 7 feet for a net setup, is 7 the ceiling height?
  3. To Bushnell: Does the 8' bundle's 8 foot minimum ceiling allow a full driver swing?
  4. To Bushnell: If the room doesn't work out, which parts of a simulator bundle can go back, and with what fee?
  5. To Foresight: Is the GC3 sold today the subscription-free GC3 Ball Enabled?
  6. To Foresight: For the Play 10' GC3, should a room plan on the product page's 20 feet of depth or the manual's about 17 feet to the back of the PC cart?

Checkpoint: with 9 feet to the lowest point overhead and 12 feet clear, the 10' is your bundle. If either falls short (8 to 9 feet overhead, or 10 to 12 feet clear), the 8' is your bundle. For a GC3 at 10 feet wide, Foresight's Play 10' fits if your ceiling clears its 8'6" frame and you have 20 feet of depth. Under 10 feet clear, the only published figure left is Bushnell's net setup, at least 6 feet wide, and only once every golfer's full swing fits there.

How far should the ball be from the screen?

For a starting figure, Foresight's SIM IN A BOX Play 10' manual puts the front of the mat about 8 feet from the screen. Neither maker gives a screen distance on its launch monitor pages or in the Launch Pro, GC3 or GC3S manuals; the figures are in Foresight's SIM IN A BOX assembly manuals.

Bushnell hosts that Play 10' manual on its own Launch Pro support page. Foresight's SIM IN A BOX Birdie manual places the GC3 itself 9'5" from the screen and 1'10" from the mat's center line. If you build your own bay around a GC3, those two Birdie figures are the marks to start from when you tape the floor.

Depth is the distance to the screen plus the room behind you to swing and walk.

Behind the ball, you need room for your swing and to walk. Bushnell's 17 foot long enclosures carry an 18 foot minimum room depth, which it says covers "the hitting position plus a walkway behind you." For a bay you build yourself, compare its depth with that 18 feet and with Foresight's 15 to 18.

For how other launch monitor makers set screen distance, including units that sit behind the golfer, see our guide to how much room you need for a golf simulator.

Can a left-handed golfer use the Launch Pro or GC3?

Yes, with a setting change and a move. The manuals tell you to place the ball "in front of" the unit, and each unit has a left- and right-handed mode on the device. Foresight's help center says that for "GC3, Launch Pro, GCQuad, and QuadMax, hitting mode is set directly on the device." None of the manuals says in plain words to move the unit for a left-handed golfer.

Foresight says it elsewhere. In a 2019 article about its overhead GCHawk, Foresight wrote that "the need to move around the launch monitor when a left-handed golfer is on the schedule has long been one of those little annoyances in a commercial application," and that with the overhead unit both right- and left-handed golfers can swing "without repositioning any equipment."

For the room, that means a household with right- and left-handed golfers needs swing space on both sides of the ball. Foresight's 2026 guide ties its 12 to 15 foot width range to that: "More width supports both right and left handed players." So plan on at least 12 feet clear, the low end of that range.

What else does the room need besides floor space?

Two things: an internet connection that reaches the unit, and room for a platform beside the mat.

Internet access where the simulator lives. The Launch Pro manual says the unit "requires online registration renewal every 45 days," and if it lapses, "all data channels" are "blocked until registration renewal is completed," though it "will continue to work as a stand-alone device." Foresight's GC3 and GC3S manuals have the same 45-day rule.

Foresight's GC3 manual lists Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable; Bushnell's support page adds Bluetooth through the Foresight app or USB-C to your computer for the Launch Pro. If the Wi-Fi doesn't reach the hitting spot, plan a wired connection before install day; without the 45-day check-in, the data channels stay blocked.

Mat height. The Launch Pro, GC3 and GC3S manuals all say that on a hitting mat, the unit must be "raised to the same level as the hitting surface." Leave room beside the mat for a stable platform at that height.

Picture a weeknight in December, with frost on the basement window wells. The enclosure stands in the 12 by 18 feet you taped out, clear of the lowest duct. The Launch Pro sits on its platform level with the mat, about 2 feet from the ball. You tee a ball up and take a full swing with the driver.

Before you order

Room size is only part of it, so take these in order.

  1. Measure to your lowest ceiling point, joists, ducts and lights included, then the clear width and depth.
  2. Take a full driver swing where the ball will sit, for every golfer in the house, left-handed golfers on their side of the ball.
  3. Walk the route in, and find the electrical outlet and the network connection where the simulator will sit.
  4. Send the six questions above, Bushnell's first.
  5. Weighing a bundle against a Foresight package? Our golf simulator packages comparison covers both Bushnell bundles and three Foresight SIM IN A BOX packages, along with 24 other packages, and shows what each leaves out and what year one costs.
  6. If Bushnell's software answer suits you, order the bundle the Checkpoint points to: the 10' with 12 feet clear and 9 overhead, or the 8' with 10 feet clear and 8 overhead, both with 18 feet of depth. See the simulator bundles at Bushnell Golf
  7. Under 10 feet clear, or using a net instead of a bundle? Order the unit on its own: see the Launch Pro at Bushnell Golf. If Bushnell's software answer doesn't suit you, the GC3 at Foresight has the same footprint.

Common questions

What are the Bushnell Launch Pro space requirements?

Bushnell's simulator bundles list minimums of 8 feet high, 10 feet wide and 18 feet deep for its 8' enclosure, and 9 feet high, 12 feet wide and 18 feet deep for its 10' enclosure. Its Launch Pro buyer's guide gives a smaller figure for a net setup: at least 13 feet deep and 6 feet wide, with 14 x 6 x 7 feet recommended.

What are the GC3 space requirements?

Foresight's 2026 room setup guide recommends a 10 foot ceiling (9 feet works for many golfers, 8.5 feet for irons only), 12 to 15 feet of width and 15 to 18 feet of depth. Its SIM IN A BOX Play 10' GC3 package fits spaces as narrow as 10 feet wide, per Foresight. For how those figures compare with Garmin, SkyTrak, Uneekor and Trackman, see golf simulator room size by maker.

Is the Bushnell Launch Pro the same as the Foresight GC3?

The two makers publish the same 5 pound weight, 12 inch height, 7 x 10 inch hitting zone, floor placement beside the ball and 45-day internet check-in. The prices and software terms differ: $2,999.99 for the Launch Pro at Bushnell and $6,999 for the GC3 at Foresight as of October 1, 2026, with different wording on what needs a subscription.

How far from the ball does the GC3 or Launch Pro go?

The Launch Pro manual and Foresight's GC3 manual both say approximately 2 feet from the hitting area. Foresight's manual for the GC3S, its subscription version, says 16 to 24 inches from the hitting zone. All three say to raise the unit to mat height.
