This policy describes what homeperformanceguide.com collects about its visitors and email subscribers and how that information is used. It applies to this website and to the emails we send. The retailers and manufacturers our links point to have their own privacy policies, and this one does not cover them.
Who runs this site
Home Performance Guide publishes planning guides for home recovery and training equipment, built from the manufacturers' own documentation. The site is run from the United States and written for US readers. Some of the service providers listed below process information in other countries.

What we collect
When you read the site
The site runs Google Analytics 4 on its pages. It records the pages you view, how long you stay, the links you click, the site that sent you, your device and browser type, and an approximate location such as your city and country. These records are tied to a random ID stored in a cookie. We do not send names or email addresses to Google Analytics, and Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
The site's pages and images are hosted by systeme.io. As with any web host, your browser sends it your IP address and browser details each time it requests a page.
When you sign up for a planner
The Room Planner and Golf Room Planner sign-up forms ask for one thing, your email address. It is stored in our systeme.io account with the date you signed up and a tag showing which planner you asked for. While the sign-up tab is open, the page also keeps the address you typed in your browser's session storage, which the browser clears when you close the tab.
Our emails go out through systeme.io, which may record whether each email was opened and which links in it were clicked. We look at those numbers to see which emails are useful.
When you email us
If you write to hello@homeperformanceguide.com, we receive your email address, your name if your email program includes it, and whatever you write. Messages are stored in our mailbox, which is hosted by Namecheap.
The site has no user accounts or comment section, and it takes no payments.
How we use it
- Analytics: to see which guides people read and where they come from, so we know what to update and what to write next.
- Email address: to deliver the planner you asked for and to send related planning emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Messages to hello@: to answer you.
We don't use any of this to build advertising profiles, and we don't sell or rent email addresses.
Cookies

Browsers can cut these lifetimes short. Google notes that when you don't return to a site, Chrome keeps its first-party cookies for 400 days at most and Safari for 7 days.
Every page also contacts Sentry, the error-monitoring service systeme.io uses. Sentry receives technical details such as your browser type and the address of the page.
As of October 2026, the site shows no ads and runs no advertising or social media tracking pixels, such as those from Meta, Pinterest, TikTok or Google Ads. If that changes, this page will be updated first.
Google Analytics and how to opt out
Google explains what it does with data from the sites that use its tools on its page How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. To stop Google Analytics from recording your visits, you can:
- install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on
- block or delete this site's cookies in your browser settings
- use a content blocker that blocks Google Analytics
Opting out does not change how the site works.
Affiliate links
Some links in our guides are affiliate links. If you click one and then buy, the retailer pays us a commission, and you pay the same price. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains how that works.
An affiliate link either goes straight to the retailer with a referral code in the address or passes first through an affiliate network such as Impact, Awin or AvantLink. The code identifies this site and carries nothing about you. Once you arrive, the retailer or network may set its own cookie so it can credit us if you buy within its tracking period. Those cookies are set on their sites and governed by their privacy policies.
Partners send us reports of clicks and orders with the commission on each. We don't ask partners for buyers' names, email addresses or payment details.
Email sign-ups and unsubscribing
Planner emails are sent by systeme.io from hello@homeperformanceguide.com under the name Home Performance Guide. To stop them, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or write to hello@homeperformanceguide.com and ask to be removed.
Unsubscribing stops the emails. Your address stays in systeme.io marked as unsubscribed, because that record is what keeps it from being emailed again. If you want it deleted completely, say so and we will delete it.
Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers that run the site and its email for us:
- systeme.io hosts the pages, stores the email list and sends our emails. Its pages deliver images and scripts through Amazon CloudFront and report errors to Sentry.
- Google provides Google Analytics.
- Namecheap hosts the hello@ mailbox.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order. If the site is ever sold, the email list would transfer with it, and we would note the change on this page.
How long we keep it
- Email address: kept while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, it stays marked as unsubscribed until you ask us to delete it.
- Messages to hello@: kept in the mailbox while they are useful for answering you. Ask and we will delete them.
- Analytics: Google Analytics deletes user-level and event-level data after the retention period set in our account. For standard accounts Google offers 2 or 14 months. Aggregated reports, such as monthly page view totals, are kept longer and hold no cookie IDs.
- Cookies: see the table above.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from our emails with the link at the bottom of any email.
- Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Write to hello@homeperformanceguide.com from the address in question, and we will answer within 30 days.
- Turn off analytics with the opt-out options above.
Google Analytics data is not linked to names or email addresses, so we cannot look up one person's analytics records by name. Opting out stops new records from being made.
Children
This site is written for adults planning home equipment purchases. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, write to hello@homeperformanceguide.com and we will delete the address.
California visitors
The sections above describe what we collect, who receives it, how to review or change it, and how changes to this policy are announced. California's Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA) also asks sites to address these points:
- Do Not Track: some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal. This site does not respond to it, and Google Analytics runs the same way whether the signal is on or off. To stop analytics, use the opt-out options above.
- Tracking across sites: Google may collect information about your activity over time and across different websites through Google Analytics, as described on the Google page linked above. Affiliate retailers and networks may do the same once you click an affiliate link.
- Marketing by others: we do not share personal information with other companies for their own marketing.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. The only personal detail our sign-up forms ask for is an email address, and the list is kept in our systeme.io account. No method of sending or storing data online is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version goes on this page with a new date at the top. If a change affects how we use email addresses we already hold, we will also say so in an email to subscribers.
