Affiliate Disclosure

Home Performance Guide earns commissions on some of the links on this site, in our emails and in our Pinterest pins. If you click one and buy something, the manufacturer or retailer pays us a percentage. You pay the same price either way.

This page explains exactly how that works and what it does not change, because a disclosure that only says "we may earn a commission" tells you almost nothing.

Who pays us

As of October 5, 2026, these companies pay us commissions through links on this site:

  • Saunas and cold plunges: Sun Home Saunas, SaunaKits.com, Select Saunas, Topture and SaunaCloud.
  • Red light: Vellgus.
  • Golf simulators: Carl's Place and Bushnell Golf. Bushnell's program is run by Foresight Sports, and we earn nothing on Foresight's GC3 launch monitors.

Sun Home and Bushnell links pass through the Impact network, Vellgus links through Awin and Carl's Place links through AvantLink. Links to the others go straight to the retailer with a referral code.

We add a company here the day its first link goes live and remove it when its links come down. Programs we have applied to but do not link to yet are not listed. We have no affiliate links for hyperbaric chambers.

Commission rates differ by program, and they differ by a lot. That is exactly why the next section exists.

What the money does not decide

Three commitments, and they are testable against anything published on this site:

  • Commission rate never decides coverage. The guides cover the questions buyers actually ask, in the categories where the existing answers are weakest. Several of the products discussed here pay us nothing at all.
  • Findings are published even when they are unflattering to a partner. Our cold plunge floor load guide opens with two of Sun Home's own published figures that sit about 2,350 pounds apart. That is the standard, not an exception.
  • Specifications come from the manufacturer, not from us and not from other blogs. Every number in a guide traces to a published spec sheet, installation manual or code section. When a figure cannot be verified against a primary source, the guide says so rather than repeating it.

The honest version of the deal: we get paid when a recommendation is good enough to act on. That only works long-term if the recommendations are accurate, which is why accuracy is the business model rather than a constraint on it.

How we research and correct our guides is on our editorial standards page.

How links are marked

Affiliate links open in a new tab and are tagged so search engines do not treat them as editorial endorsements. Where a guide recommends something we earn nothing on, it is linked normally.

Reviews and compensation

We are not paid to write reviews, and no partner has approval rights over anything published here. Nobody has ever sent us a product in exchange for coverage. If that changes, this page will say so before the coverage runs.

The legal part

This disclosure is made under the US Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, 16 CFR Part 255.

Home Performance Guide publishes general planning information, not electrical, structural, code or medical advice. Manufacturer instructions and your local authority having jurisdiction govern any actual installation.
