The custom infrared sauna cost is the first number to pin down when no standard cabin fits your space and the sauna has to be cut to the room.
SaunaCloud designs custom infrared saunas to a room's dimensions. Its own pages put the price at $5,000 to $17,000 or more as of October 1, 2026, plus a flat $999 for shipping. SaunaCloud says your price comes in a proposal with 3D renderings in 24 to 48 hours, to review before you commit. First, get a free 3D design from SaunaCloud.
The catch: SaunaCloud's pages don't agree on the total or on what the trades cost. Until your proposal arrives, budget from the build guide's $7,000 to $17,000 or more as of that date, the range that counts the most lines.
On October 1, 2026, we read five SaunaCloud pages that publish price ranges, its garage article, its model pages, and its warranty, shipping and return policies.

It depends on the route. Here are the three ways to get a sauna that fits your space, side by side, with the price each seller lists and what you still pay for on top.
| Route | Listed price | What you still pay for |
|---|---|---|
| Prefab cabin, when a standard size fits | $2,199 for the Golden Designs Gracia Elite (1 to 2 people) at SaunaKits, and $5,599 to $8,599 regular price for Sun Home's Solstice cabins (1 to 4 people), as of October 1, 2026, when a Sun Home sale was running | Getting it inside, assembly, and a new circuit if the spec sheet calls for one you don't have |
| Pre-cut room kit: the interior is cut to your room's measurements, and you build the shell | From $5,767.22 regular price at Haven of Heat for Finnish Sauna Builders' smallest kit, a 3 by 4 foot room for one, with no heater, plus $950 shipping, as of October 23, 2026, when a sale was running | A heater, plus what the listing leaves to you: "the framing, insulation, electrical wiring, and exterior wall covering," and a builder unless you do it yourself |
| Full custom design, cut to the room by SaunaCloud | $5,000 to $17,000 or more as of October 1, 2026, depending on which SaunaCloud page you read, plus a flat $999 for shipping | The room, the glass door and windows, the carpenter, a licensed electrician and any permits |
The pre-cut kit above is built as a traditional Finnish sauna: Haven of Heat sells it with no heater, or with a Harvia or HUUM heater and stones. We didn't find a cut-to-size infrared kit with a listed price on October 23, 2026, and Clearlight, for one, sends a price quote for its DIY infrared heater kits on request.
What this means for you: when a standard cabin fits, it usually costs the least. When none does, an infrared sauna cut to your room is priced in a proposal, and SaunaCloud's is free. Its five published ranges, below, are where to start your budget.
As of October 1, 2026, SaunaCloud's own pages put it at $5,000 to $17,000 or more, and the five pages in the table below don't all count the same things.
Find the page in the first column, then read across to what its range covers; the last column is where the five ranges part ways.
| SaunaCloud page | Range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Reddit answers page | "between $5,000 and $15,000+" | "custom residential sauna systems", varying with "size, layout, glass, and other options" |
| Buying guide | "$5,000-$15,000+" | "a custom-built sauna" |
| FAQ | "typically $6,000-$17,000" | "Total installed": kit, contractor labor and electrician |
| Build-your-own guide | "$7,000-$17,000+" | "heater kit + cedar + insulation + electrical + labor" |
| Custom vs portable comparison | "$7,000-$17,000+" | "custom built" |
The lowest figures are for the sauna system SaunaCloud ships. The FAQ adds labor and an electrician, and the build guide adds insulation and its own labor and electrical estimates.
What this means for you: no published range is your price. SaunaCloud's start page says you can "Share approximate dimensions and preferences" and "Get free custom 3D renderings and a proposal in 24-48 hours, with layout and price to review before you commit." That proposal is the only number that applies to your room, and asking for it costs nothing.

SaunaCloud's proposal prices the sauna system, and its model pages split the job into two lists.
From its Atlas page: the "Wood system, VantaWave heaters, CORE 5 power + controls", "Cut-to-spec wood, fasteners, junction boxes, door/window jamb wood", and "Plans + manuals and project-tied support; on-site assembly required." Its "Why SaunaCloud" page adds "Electrical drawings for your licensed electrician" and says built-in red light "is included at no additional charge where configured."
The words "on-site assembly required" mean you bring the builder: SaunaCloud sends the plans and project-tied support, and your local contractor builds it.
Indoors, the Atlas page lists "Room/structure, glass door + windows (we give rough opening + spec)", "Licensed electrician work from our electrical plans", and "Labor, permits, and site prep." The "Why SaunaCloud" page says the same: "room preparation, glass, and local trades are separate."
Outdoors, the list grows. SaunaCloud's outdoor page says you supply a "Level, drainable base (pad, pavers, or reinforced deck) plus clearances" and the "Labor, permits, foundation/frost and snow-load sign-off by the local authority." Our outdoor sauna guide covers what pads and clearances cost on the fixed-size models.
So when you set a proposal next to a prefab price, add the carpenter, the glass and any permits to the custom side first, and price any electrical work for both.
As of October 1, 2026, SaunaCloud's shipping policy reads: "Your SaunaCloud sauna ships in two streams for a flat $999 per order, added automatically." The wood comes "curbside via freight carrier on a pallet", and "The freight driver is not responsible for carrying the sauna inside your home." Plan for the people and the path to get it inside.

As of October 1, 2026, SaunaCloud's build guide puts its kit plus a local contractor at $7,000 to $17,000 or more in total. The guide describes three paths: a prefab cabin, a full do-it-yourself build, and its own "hybrid", where it supplies the engineered kit and your local contractor builds it.
The table is for that hybrid path: read down the second column for each line's figure, and note which row has no dollar figure.
| Line item | SaunaCloud's figure |
|---|---|
| SaunaCloud heater kit, controls and power supply | "Varies by system" |
| Western Red Cedar materials | "$1,500-$4,000 depending on sauna size and wood grade" |
| Insulation and vapor barrier | "$200-$500" |
| Electrical (licensed electrician) | "$500-$1,500 depending on existing panel capacity and run distance" |
| Contractor labor | "$1,500-$4,000 depending on complexity and local rates" |
| Total | "$7,000-$17,000+" |
The heater kit, the biggest single item, has no published price. That's the line your proposal fills in.
The list also has no line for the glass door and windows, which the Atlas page leaves to you, for permits, or for the flat $999 shipping as of October 1, 2026. Budget those on top, and ask whether your proposal includes any of them.
Check the electrician line first. A custom design has no off-the-shelf spec sheet, so the circuit it needs comes from SaunaCloud's drawings for your room. Its "Why SaunaCloud" page says you can review "preliminary electrical requirements before committing."
Get them in writing and take them to an electrician before you order, with the run from your panel to the spot measured. Our sauna electrical requirements guide explains what the electrician will look at.
When a standard cabin size fits your room, a prefab usually costs less. As of October 1, 2026, SaunaCloud's own pages put prefab prices at "$2,000-$5,000" (FAQ), "$2,000-$6,000" (build guide and comparison page) or "$3,000-$8,000 for a quality prefab model" (buying guide).
Retailers' own listings sit at both ends of those ranges:
A prefab cabin comes in fixed sizes. A custom build is cut to the room, so it can fill an alcove, a garage bay or an odd-shaped basement where no cabin fits. That fit, and the trades it takes to build it, is most of the price difference. Our guide to putting a sauna in a garage covers the fit questions for one common spot. If you're weighing a custom outdoor build against a prefab cabin, our outdoor infrared sauna comparison lines up prefab cabins and a custom build by circuit, pad and coldest month.
Checkpoint: does a standard size fit? If a fixed-size cabin fits the spot, the Gracia Elite (for one or two) and Sun Home's Solstice (for up to four) are on your list. If none fits, a sauna cut to the room, such as SaunaCloud's, is the route that does.

SaunaCloud's pages give three timelines from a settled design, and they don't all count to the same point:
The model pages count to the day it ships. The "Why SaunaCloud" page counts the whole remaining process, including installation. Add the time your contractor and electrician need, and any permit review.
Say you want it ready by March 1. Count 12 weeks back, the long end of the "Why SaunaCloud" range, and you land in early December, by our arithmetic. Approve the final design before then, and book your trades once you do.
SaunaCloud builds every sauna to order, and once you place the order, it can't be canceled. The policy reads: "All SaunaCloud saunas are custom-built to order. Once your order is placed, cancellations are not accepted." On returns, the policy says: "All sales are final."
What this means for you: the design review is your only chance to change your mind, and SaunaCloud puts one in front of you before you pay. A custom sauna can't be resold as stock, so order once the proposal and the electrical requirements fit your room and your electrician's quote.

Warranty. SaunaCloud calls it a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" and defines that lifetime as "seven (7) years from final delivery." Coverage then varies by part: "seven (7) years on infrared heaters, three (3) years on the power supply and controls, and one (1) year on lighting, speakers, and other covered accessories."
Two exclusions matter: "Wood is not covered", and the red light is "Not covered" because it is "Included at no additional charge as a complimentary bonus." Its outdoor page adds 3 years on the outdoor roof.
Delivery damage. With the wood outside the warranty, the delivery check is where you protect the cedar. Inspect the packaging before you sign and note any visible damage on the bill of lading. SaunaCloud asks for damage, shortages or wrong items to be reported "within 14 days of final delivery."
Financing. "Financing options are available on approved credit." SaunaCloud doesn't name the lender.
Four sets of SaunaCloud's figures change from page to page, and each one becomes a question to settle in writing before you pay.
As of October 1, 2026, the pages give three totals: the system range ($5,000 to $15,000 or more), the FAQ's installed range ($6,000 to $17,000) and the build guide's total ($7,000 to $17,000 or more). They count different things, and none of the pages says so plainly. Plan around the build guide's $7,000 to $17,000 or more as of that date, since it lists the kit, the cedar, the insulation, the electrical and the labor. Ask which of those lines your proposal covers.
As of October 1, 2026, the FAQ says "electrician ($200-$800)" and the build guide says "Electrical (licensed electrician): $500-$1,500". SaunaCloud's garage article, when we checked, said electrical installation "runs roughly $300 to $900, plus a dedicated circuit," quoting an electrician. Budget the build guide's $500 to $1,500, the highest of the three as of that date, until your own electrician quotes the job with SaunaCloud's requirements in hand.
As of October 1, 2026, the FAQ says "contractor labor ($500-$2,000 for 1-3 days)" and the build guide says "Contractor labor: $1,500-$4,000". The models page says "Typically a weekend installation." Plan around the build guide's $1,500 to $4,000, the higher of the two when we checked, until your contractor quotes against SaunaCloud's plans, and ask how many days those plans assume (question 3 below).
The FAQ, the build guide and the buying guide each give a different prefab range, all quoted in the comparison above. For a prefab price you can act on, use a retailer's own listing, such as the Gracia Elite, $2,199 at SaunaKits as of October 1, 2026.
Send SaunaCloud these five questions with your dimensions:
The short version: your proposal and your own trades' quotes replace every range above, so order once SaunaCloud's answers are in writing. If they don't come, hold the order, or price the Gracia Elite if a standard size fits, since its listed price needs no proposal.
SaunaCloud's own pages say it has been "Building custom saunas in California since 2014" and list "3,000+ installations", an "A+ BBB" rating and "4.8 on Trustpilot." Those are SaunaCloud's claims; we haven't verified them.
What you can check is on paper. SaunaCloud publishes its price ranges, warranty terms and policies, including the no-cancellation rule that cuts against it. Since an order can't be canceled, your protection is the written proposal and SaunaCloud's answers to the five questions above, in hand before you pay.
Get the custom build when no standard cabin size fits your space, and a prefab when one does.
Picture a dark January evening, the first week after the build. The cedar fills the basement alcove you measured, cut to the dimensions you sent, and the glass door your carpenter hung sits in SaunaCloud's rough opening. You pull the door closed behind you and sit back as the heat comes on.
SaunaCloud designs the sauna to your room's measurements and sends 3D renderings and a proposal in 24 to 48 hours. The proposal prices the sauna system; as of October 1, 2026, shipping adds a flat $999, and the room, glass, local labor and licensed electrical work are yours to arrange. What arrives is cedar cut to spec for your room, and built-in red light "is included at no additional charge where configured."
Confirm before you order: SaunaCloud's own pages give three totals and three electrician figures, so ask in writing which lines your proposal covers, and budget from the build guide's total above until it answers.

If a standard size fits the room, a prefab cabin costs less. The Golden Designs Gracia Elite, a 1 to 2 person far-infrared cabin, was $2,199 at SaunaKits as of October 1, 2026: a cabin for two with no carpenter on the job.
Check the Gracia Elite at SaunaKits
For more than two people, Sun Home lists its 1 to 4 person Solstice far-infrared cabins at $5,599 to $8,599 regular price as of October 1, 2026, and a sale was running.

How much does a custom infrared sauna cost?
SaunaCloud's own pages put it at $5,000 to $15,000 or more for the sauna system, $6,000 to $17,000 installed, or $7,000 to $17,000 or more in total, depending on which page you read. Shipping is a flat $999. The room, glass, carpenter, electrician and permits are separate, so the proposal for your room is the number that counts.
How much does it cost to build your own infrared sauna?
SaunaCloud's build guide gives $1,500 to $4,000 for cedar, $200 to $500 for insulation, $500 to $1,500 for the electrician and $1,500 to $4,000 for contractor labor, plus its heater kit, which has no published price. Its total is $7,000 to $17,000 or more.
Is a custom sauna more expensive than a prefab?
Usually. SaunaCloud puts prefab cabins at $2,000 to $8,000 depending on the page. A 1 to 2 person Golden Designs prefab was $2,199 at SaunaKits on October 1, 2026, and Sun Home's Solstice cabins list at $5,599 to $8,599 regular price.
Can you cancel a SaunaCloud order?
No. SaunaCloud's policy says, "Once your order is placed, cancellations are not accepted," and "All sales are final." Settle the design, the price and the electrical plan before you order.
What does the SaunaCloud warranty cover?
Infrared heaters for 7 years, the power supply and controls for 3 years, and lighting, speakers and other covered accessories for 1 year, from final delivery. Wood isn't covered, and the red light, included at no extra charge, isn't covered either. Outdoor saunas get 3 years on the roof.
Can you get a custom size infrared sauna?
Yes. SaunaCloud designs infrared saunas to your room's measurements, and its FAQ lists builds in "closets, bathroom corners, garages, basements, master bedroom alcoves, outdoor structures". Pre-cut room kits are cut to your dimensions too, but the one with a listed price in our table is built for a traditional heater, and Clearlight quotes its DIY infrared heater kits on request. If a standard size fits, a prefab cabin usually costs less.
Do I need a permit for a custom sauna?
Usually for the wiring, and sometimes for the build. SaunaCloud's FAQ says "Most require an electrical permit for a new dedicated circuit (your electrician handles this)" and "Some require a building permit for structural modifications." It adds that closet conversions within existing walls "often don't require one," and that outdoor structures may, "depending on size and setbacks." Your local building department decides. Our guide to sauna permit rules shows what the code and 12 local governments say.
Do infrared saunas raise the electric bill?
Yes, for every hour they run. SaunaCloud's FAQ says a typical 2-person SaunaCloud sauna "uses 1,500-3,000 watts per session." At the U.S. average residential rate of 18.31 cents per kilowatt hour (EIA, July 2026), that's about 27 to 55 cents an hour, by our arithmetic. SaunaCloud's own example uses about 16 cents and gets "$3.60-$7.20 per month" for a 30-minute daily session; at the July 2026 average, the same sessions come to about $4.12 to $8.24 a month. For your own number, ask for your design's rated watts and use your rate.
Tonight, do step 1: tape out the spot and measure the ceiling, then photograph your electrical panel for the electrician. The free Home Performance Room Planner lists the measurements to take before you ask anyone for a price.
