Best Infrared Sauna for Home (2026): Size, Power, Price

By Evan Reid, with research from the HPG Research Team · Updated Oct. 13, 2026

Choosing the best infrared sauna for your home begins at the outlet. Sun Home's Solstice and Equinox cabins need a dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit. Golden Designs' cabins, sold as Dynamic and Maxxus, list 120V and 15 amps.

For two people on 15 amps, start with the Dynamic Serena, $3,999 as of October 5, 2026, for its compact footprint and a warranty that names its Dynamic brand. The Maxxus Seattle is 2 inches roomier each way inside and $300 less as of that date, by our arithmetic; choose it if Golden Designs confirms its warranty covers the Maxxus name. With a 20 amp circuit, Sun Home's Solstice 2 has more room for two, at $6,199 regular as of that date, with a sale running.

Settle one line first: the Serena's page says "Recommended Dedicated Outlet," its manual "Dedicated Circuit Required." So "plug & play" still means a breaker of its own; check that nothing else shares it.

Quick picks

Choose by headcount, the circuit you can run and the ceiling you have.

  • Best for one person on an existing 15 amp circuit: Dynamic Barcelona. Why: Golden Designs lists 120V/15amp and calls it "Ideal for 1 Person." As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,499. Compromise: 1 year of coverage on the wood structure, parts only.
  • Best for one person with a 20 amp circuit: Sun Home Solstice 1. Why: Sun Home's warranty page gives "7 years on cabinetry and heaters." As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $5,599, and a sale was running. Compromise: a dedicated 120V/20A circuit with a NEMA 5-20 receptacle, and a 25% restocking fee on returns.
  • Best for two people under $5,000: Maxxus Seattle ($3,699) or Dynamic Serena ($3,999). Why: both list 120V/15amp; Golden Designs gives the Seattle 44 by 38 inches inside and the Serena 42 by 36 with seven heater panels. Compromise: a 140°F top and 1 year on the wood structure.
  • Best for two people who want the highest top temperature: Sun Home Equinox 2. Why: Sun Home lists "Up to 165°F" and a 30–45 minute warm-up in its manual. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $6,799, and a sale was running. Compromise: $600 more than the Solstice 2 for the same footprint.
  • Best for full spectrum under $5,000: Dynamic Santorini. Why: Golden Designs lists four far-infrared carbon panels plus two near-infrared elements on 120V/15amp. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,999. Compromise: 35 by 33 inches inside.
  • Best for a low ceiling: Dynamic 1 Person Compact. Why: Golden Designs lists it at 65 inches tall, so about 75 to 77 inches of ceiling with its overhead clearance, by our arithmetic. As of October 5, 2026, Golden Designs' regular price is $2,999 with a sale running, and SaunaKits lists it at $1,499. Compromise: 60 inches of headroom inside.
  • Best for an odd-shaped room or a built-in: SaunaCloud custom. Why: SaunaCloud says footprint and bench capacity "follow your space and layout, not the model name." Quote only. Compromise: "All sales are final."

Skip the cabins if the sauna is going outdoors. Sun Home designs the Solstice "for indoor use only," and Golden Designs' warranty says placing its sauna outdoors will void it. Best infrared saunas for home compared: which circuit do you have?

Every prefab cabin here runs on 120 volts, on either a dedicated 15 amp circuit, per Golden Designs' manuals, or a dedicated 20 amp one, and that one difference sorts the list. SaunaCloud's custom builds are the exception, since the project's electrical plans set the circuit.

Find the circuit you have, or can add, in the Circuit column; every row that doesn't match it is off your list.

Sizes in the table are inside dimensions in inches, width by depth by height, as each maker lists them; outside sizes are in the room table further down. "Sale running" means the maker had a sale on when we checked, and the price shown is the regular price.

The Golden Designs prices in the table are its own list prices, and on October 5, 2026, Select Saunas' and SaunaKits' regular prices matched them. Sales were running at both on the Barcelona, Serena and Seattle and at Select on the Santorini, so check both carts before you choose a seller. Sun Home sells its own cabins.

On two cabins, the seller changes the price. As of October 5, 2026, SaunaKits listed the Santorini at $2,399 and the Compact at $1,499, with no sale shown, against Golden Designs' $3,999 and $2,999. Both SaunaKits listings disagree with the maker on size or wood, so confirm the model before you order there; each pick below has the details.

What this means for you: an existing 15 amp circuit counts only if nothing else runs on its breaker while the sauna is on. Golden Designs' manuals say "No other appliance can be operated on the same electrical breaker as the sauna when the sauna is in use." Not sure what shares yours? Photograph your panel for the electrician, with the list in the power section.

Checkpoint: the outlet. If you can add a dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit with a NEMA 5-20 receptacle, Sun Home's Solstice 1, Solstice 2 and Equinox 2 are on your list. If you'd rather use a 15 amp circuit you can dedicate to the sauna, your shortlist is the five Golden Designs cabins: the Barcelona, Compact, Serena, Seattle and Santorini. Settle this before you compare anything else.

Best infrared sauna for one person: which cabin fits your circuit?

Three cabins fit one person here, and the circuit splits them. The Sun Home Solstice 1 needs a dedicated 20 amp circuit, while the Dynamic Barcelona and the Dynamic Compact list 15 amps. Inside, they're 32.2, 36 and 32 inches wide, so on 15 amps the Barcelona gives you the most room side to side.

Say it's the first cold evening in November, and the spare room is dark by dinner. The cabin stands in the corner you taped out, a few inches off the wall, with its cord running to the outlet your electrician set within reach. The heat has been on since before dinner. You pull the glass door shut and sit back on the bench.

Sun Home Solstice 1: one person on a 20 amp circuit

Get the Solstice 1 if you can give it a dedicated 20 amp circuit and you want Sun Home's 7 years on cabinetry and heaters. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $5,599, and Sun Home had a sale running.

  • Best for: one person who has, or will add, a 120V/20A circuit and wants Sun Home's 7-year cabinetry and heater term.
  • Skip it if: you only have a 15 amp circuit or a standard 5-15 receptacle, or you want the cabin above 140°F.
  • Main compromise: the highest price among the one-person picks, for 32.2 inches of interior width, plus a 25% restocking fee and freight both ways on a return.

Sun Home lists it at 37.8 by 39.8 by 77.7 inches outside and 32.2 by 33.6 by 70.3 inside, with a 28 inch door opening and a bench 19.5 inches off the floor.

The spec sheet lists 8 far-infrared carbon wall heaters and an operating range of 130 to 140°F. It weighs 428 pounds assembled, and Sun Home's delivery is curbside only, so line up help for the carry from the curb.

The rated electrical line is "120V / 1,350W / 20A," with a NEMA 5-20P plug on a 10 foot cord that leaves the back left of the roof. At 1,350 watts the cabin draws about 11.25 amps, by our arithmetic, so the 20A in that line is the circuit size. The spec sheet asks for a "Dedicated 120V / 20A circuit. Include a GFCI or dual-function (AFCI/GFCI) breaker; check local code."

The manual says "Have a licensed electrician install the dedicated circuit," so get that quote, with the outlet where the 10 foot cord reaches, before you order.

Plan on time before each session, too. The manual says to "Allow 45–60 minutes of warm-up; the cabin warms at roughly one degree per minute, more slowly above 120°F." So switch it on well before you want to step in. Sun Home also says the Solstice "is designed for indoor use only."

For orders placed on or after March 2, 2026, Sun Home's warranty page gives 7 years on cabinetry and heaters and 3 years on controls. Glass doors and audio get 1 year, each term with its own footnote.

Returns are the narrow part. Sun Home accepts them within 30 days of delivery only if the sauna is unused and unopened, with a 25% restocking fee plus shipping both ways. On a $5,599 order, the regular price as of October 5, 2026, a 25% fee would be $1,399.75, by our arithmetic. Be sure of the spot and the circuit before it ships.

Confirm before you order: the Solstice 1 installation guide asks for "8 in between the back of the sauna and the walls," while the spec sheet, manual and product page ask for at least 4 inches. Plan on 8 behind the cabin until Sun Home tells you in writing which number governs.

Ask about floor heaters in the same note. The spec sheet lists "FLOOR HEATER None," while the installation guide has a "Connect floor heaters" step. With the circuit in and answers you can live with, the Solstice 1 is ready to order.

Sun Home Solstice 1

One person, 32.2 by 33.6 inches inside, with 8 far-infrared wall heaters and a 130–140°F operating range. It plugs into a NEMA 5-20 receptacle on a dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $5,599, and Sun Home had a sale running.

Dynamic Barcelona: one person on a 15 amp circuit

The Barcelona is the roomier of the two one-person cabins on 15 amps, for a circuit you can dedicate to it. Golden Designs, which makes the Dynamic and Maxxus saunas, rates the Barcelona (DYN-6106-01) for one to two people and calls it "Ideal for 1 Person." Plan it as a one-person cabin. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,499 at Golden Designs, Select Saunas and SaunaKits, and Select Saunas and SaunaKits had sales running.

  • Best for: one person on a 120V/15A circuit you can dedicate to it, in a spot 41 to 43 inches wide, counting Golden Designs' side clearance, by our arithmetic.
  • Skip it if: two adults plan to sit side by side most sessions, or you want more than 140°F.
  • Main compromise: 1 year on the wood structure and parts-only coverage, against Sun Home's 7 years on cabinetry.

Outside, it's 39 by 36 by 73 inches, and the roof overhang adds 2 inches to the depth, so count it when you tape out the spot. Inside, it's 36 by 32 by 67 inches. It weighs 250 pounds and ships in one box, with six far-infrared carbon heater panels. Golden Designs calls 118 to 132°F the ideal range and says the sauna "can heat up to 140F."

The product page lists "120V/15amp Non GFCI plug & play (Recommended Dedicated Outlet)." The Barcelona's owner's manual goes further: "120VAC 15 AMP Dedicated Circuit Required." Plan to the manual, the stricter of the two, and keep everything else off that breaker. Golden Designs publishes no wattage for it on the product page or in the manuals we read.

Golden Designs' manuals give heat-up as about 20 minutes to reach 100°F from a room above 70°F, 35 to 40 minutes to about 125 to 130°F, and 45 to 60 minutes to about 135°F. The manual adds a duty cycle: "For every three hours ON, the sauna must be turned OFF for one hour to cool down."

Its FAQ says two adults take about an hour to assemble it, with a flat head and a Phillips screwdriver and a ladder. So line up a second pair of hands for assembly.

Golden Designs' warranty covers heating elements and electronics for 5 years and the wood structure for 1 year, and "This warranty covers parts, but does not cover labor."

Against the Solstice 1, you trade warranty length for price: $2,100 less at regular prices as of October 5, 2026, by our arithmetic, with 1 year on the wood instead of 7 on the cabinetry. Golden Designs' warranty page is headed "Limited Lifetime Warranty" but defines it as 5 years for residential use, so the 5 and 1 year terms are the ones to plan on.

Choose the seller by its return terms. On October 5, 2026, SaunaKits showed a struck-out price on the Barcelona, and its policy says "Sale items are FINAL SALE."

If SaunaKits won't tell you in writing whether that covers your order, buy at Select Saunas. It takes returns within 30 days of receipt if the sauna is unopened and unused, with a 20% restocking fee and no refund of shipping either way. Its policy gives 12 hours to cancel in one line and 24 in another, so plan on 12.

Dynamic Barcelona

Golden Designs rates it for one to two people and calls it "Ideal for 1 Person." It is 39 by 36 by 73 inches outside, with six far-infrared carbon panels on 120V, 15 amps. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,499, and Select Saunas and SaunaKits had sales running.

Dynamic 1 Person Compact: the shortest cabin, for low ceilings

Golden Designs' "1 Person (Compact)," model DYN-1101-01, is 36 by 28 by 65 inches outside and 32 by 25 by 60 inches inside. It's the shortest cabin here by 8 inches. Golden Designs recommends 10 to 12 inches above the cabin, so a 75 to 77 inch ceiling covers it, by our arithmetic, against 83 to 85 inches for the Barcelona and Santorini. As of October 5, 2026, Golden Designs' regular price is $2,999, with a sale running, and SaunaKits lists it at $1,499.

  • Best for: a low ceiling or a narrow spot, with 36 by 28 inches of floor.
  • Skip it if: you need more than 60 inches of height inside.
  • Main compromise: four heater panels in a one-person shell, and two different descriptions of the same model.

Say your basement ceiling sits at 80 inches. On those numbers, the Compact is the only fixed-size cabin here that clears it with its maker's overhead clearance; every other one needs 83 inches or more. That's the room it fits.

The page lists "Electrical service: 120V/15amp," and the manual says "120VAC 15AMP Dedicated Circuit Required" and tells you to "plug the sauna into the proper wall outlet." It has four carbon heater panels, the same 140°F top as the other Golden Designs cabins, and the same heat-up figures in its manual. Golden Designs lists a shipping weight of 159 pounds and no assembled weight.

SaunaKits sells this model as the "Dynamic Sicily," and its listing doesn't match Golden Designs' page. SaunaKits' opening paragraph says "Canadian Hemlock wood planks," while its own feature list and Golden Designs' page say "Pacific Clear Cedar." SaunaKits also gives 35.5 by 28 by 65 inches outside and 32 by 24 by 60 inside.

Ask SaunaKits in writing which wood and size will ship, and hold the order until it answers, since Select Saunas doesn't carry this model. If SaunaKits confirms the wood and size you want, the Compact is the cabin for a low ceiling.

Dynamic 1 Person Compact

The shortest cabin here: 36 by 28 by 65 inches outside and 60 inches high inside, on 120V, 15 amps. As of October 5, 2026, Golden Designs' regular price is $2,999, and a sale was running. SaunaKits sells it as the Dynamic Sicily and lists it at $1,499.

Best infrared sauna for 2 people: which interior fits two?

Interior width and depth tell you more about two people side by side than the seat count on the box. Sun Home lists 45.4 by 39.9 inches inside the Solstice 2 and Equinox 2. Golden Designs lists 44 by 38 for the Maxxus Seattle and 42 by 36 for the Dynamic Serena, while its "1-2 person" Barcelona and Santorini are 35 to 36 inches wide inside.

So if two adults will share most sessions, shop the four cabins below.

Sun Home Solstice 2: two people, far infrared, 20 amp circuit

The Solstice 2 is the two-person cabin for a home with a dedicated 20 amp circuit. With the Equinox 2, it has the largest interior of the fixed-size cabins here. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $6,199, and Sun Home had a sale running.

  • Best for: two people on one 120V/20A dedicated circuit who want Sun Home's far-infrared line.
  • Skip it if: you only have a 15 amp circuit, or you need to stay under $5,000 at regular prices as of October 5, 2026.
  • Main compromise: the same 45 to 60 minute warm-up Sun Home gives the Solstice 1, against 30 to 45 for the Equinox 2.

It's 50.9 by 45.9 by 77.7 inches outside and 45.4 by 39.9 inside, with a 28 inch door opening. It weighs 522 pounds assembled and carries 9 far-infrared carbon wall heaters.

Its rated line is "120V / 2,006W / 20A," which works out to about 16.7 amps of draw, by our arithmetic. The plug, the dedicated 120V/20A circuit and the GFCI or dual-function breaker wording match the Solstice 1, and Sun Home's electrical overview asks for no other appliances on that breaker.

Sun Home asks for at least 4 inches between the sauna and the walls and 12 inches above, and the Solstice 2 installation guide agrees. The warranty and return terms are the same as the Solstice 1's.

Sun Home's own description of the Solstice 2 says it "is rated to about 145°F," while the spec sheet and manual give an operating range of 130 to 140°F. Plan on 140°F as the top until Sun Home answers in writing. Ask the floor-heater question from the Solstice 1 too, since both Solstice spec sheets list none. If you want more than 140°F and Sun Home won't confirm the 145, the Equinox 2 below lists "Up to 165°F" in the same footprint.

With those answers in, the Solstice 2 is the two-person cabin for a 20 amp circuit.

Sun Home Solstice 2

Two people, 45.4 by 39.9 inches inside, with 9 far-infrared wall heaters and a 130–140°F operating range, on a dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit with a NEMA 5-20 receptacle. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $6,199, and Sun Home had a sale running.

Check the Solstice 2 at Sun Home

Sun Home Equinox 2: the highest listed top temperature

The Equinox 2 is the one to get if you want the highest listed top temperature on this list and a shorter warm-up on the same 20 amp circuit. It shares the Solstice 2's shell: 50.9 by 45.9 by 77.7 inches outside, 45.4 by 39.9 inside, and 541 pounds. Sun Home's product page says "The 2-person is 50.9 inches wide with a 45-inch bench," room for two side by side. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $6,799, and Sun Home had a sale running.

  • Best for: two people who want the highest top temperature on this list, up to 165°F per Sun Home, and the shorter warm-up Sun Home gives this line.
  • Skip it if: the outlet wall can't leave 6 inches behind the cabin.
  • Main compromise: $600 more than the Solstice 2 at regular prices as of October 5, 2026, for the same footprint, with 4 far-infrared panels instead of 9, plus the two full-spectrum heaters.

The heaters differ. The spec sheet lists four far-infrared carbon wall heaters plus "2 heaters · 500 W each · front corners" for full spectrum, and the cabin reaches "Up to 165°F." The Equinox manual says to "Allow 30–45 minutes of warm-up," against 45 to 60 for the Solstice.

Its rated line is "120V / 1,880W / 15.67A," with a NEMA 5-20P plug into a NEMA 5-20R receptacle on a dedicated 120V/20A circuit, and the same GFCI or dual-function breaker wording. The Equinox II assembly guide linked from the product page has no GFCI wording, so plan on the breaker the spec sheet names and let your electrician and local code settle it.

Give it 6 inches behind. The spec sheet asks for "at least 4″ around the back and sides (6″ behind, per the Installation Guide) and 12″ above," and the product page says "a 7×6-foot room with an 8-foot ceiling fits either size comfortably." Sun Home's FAQ says infrared saunas "typically heat up within 15–30 minutes," so plan on the manual's 30 to 45 instead.

Sun Home says its "Magne-Seal panels assemble indoors without special tools," and the guide calls for two or more people. It carries the same "7-Year Warranty" badge and return terms as the Solstice. If a shower or tub sits within five feet of the spot, ask Sun Home whether its warranty's water rule applies before you order.

Sun Home Equinox 2

The Solstice 2's footprint with 4 far-infrared panels plus 2 full-spectrum heaters, listed at up to 165°F. Same dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit, and Sun Home's manual gives 30–45 minutes of warm-up. As of October 5, 2026, the regular price is $6,799, and Sun Home had a sale running.

Dynamic Serena: two people on 15 amps in a compact footprint

The Serena is our pick for two people on a 15 amp circuit, with no question over which brand its warranty names. It puts room on the bench for two in the smallest footprint rated for two here, apart from the 1-2 person Barcelona and Santorini. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,999 at Golden Designs, Select Saunas and SaunaKits, and Select Saunas and SaunaKits had sales running.

  • Best for: two people on a 120V/15A circuit, in a 46 by 40 inch footprint, the smallest here apart from the "1-2 person" Barcelona and Santorini at 39 by 36.
  • Skip it if: you want the roomiest two-person interior. The Serena is 42 by 36 inches inside, against 45.4 by 39.9 in the Solstice 2.
  • Main compromise: a 140°F top temperature and Golden Designs' 1-year term on the wood structure.

Golden Designs lists the Serena (DYN-6229-01) at 46 by 40 by 75 inches outside and 42 by 36 by 68 inside, 310 pounds, shipped in two boxes. It has seven far-infrared carbon heater panels. The top temperature, heat-up times, clearances, assembly and duty cycle match the Barcelona.

Its product page reads "120V/15amp Non GFCI plug & play (Recommended Dedicated Outlet)," and its manual says "120VAC 15AMP Dedicated Circuit Required," so give the Serena a breaker of its own.

SaunaKits also showed a struck-out price on the Serena, so the Barcelona's final-sale question applies there. At Select Saunas, the refund policy lets you cancel "within the first 12 hours after placing it" and mentions 24 hours in the same section, so plan on 12.

Choose your seller, and the Serena is ready to order.

Dynamic Serena

Two people in a 46 by 40 inch footprint, the smallest here apart from the 1–2 person cabins, with 42 by 36 inches inside and seven far-infrared carbon panels on 120V, 15 amps. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,999, and Select Saunas and SaunaKits had sales running.

Maxxus Seattle: a little more room than the Serena

Golden Designs calls the Maxxus Seattle (MX-J206-01) "Full 2 person capacity," with room on the bench for two in a 48 by 42 inch cabin. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,699 at Golden Designs, Select Saunas and SaunaKits, and Select Saunas and SaunaKits had sales running. That's $300 less than the Serena as of that date, by our arithmetic, for 2 more inches each way inside.

  • Best for: two people who want a little more interior width than the Serena, 44 by 38 inches, on a 15 amp circuit.
  • Skip it if: you want more heater panels (6, against the Serena's 7) or a higher top temperature.
  • Main compromise: its own manual prints a warranty written for "the Dynamic brand name," the question just below.

It stands 75 inches tall outside and measures 44 by 38 by 68 inches inside. It weighs 275 pounds, ships in two boxes and has six far-infrared carbon heater panels. If your spot gives you 2 more inches each way than the Serena needs, the Seattle fits.

Its product page has the Serena's "plug & play" line, and its manual says "MX-J206-01 120VAC 15AMP Dedicated Circuit Required," so give it its own breaker. The manual calls for a Phillips screwdriver, a ladder and two adults to assemble it.

Watch the model number when you compare prices. As of October 5, 2026, Golden Designs also sells a Seattle in the same shell as model MX-J206-01-ZF at $4,999. This guide covers the MX-J206-01, so check that number in your cart before you pay.

Confirm before you order: Golden Designs' warranty page and every manual we read, the Seattle's included, say "Golden Designs, Inc. under the Dynamic brand name warranties," and the Maxxus manual's warranty doesn't name Maxxus. Ask Golden Designs in writing whether that warranty covers the Maxxus Seattle. If it won't confirm, the Dynamic Serena avoids the question, since it carries the Dynamic name.

One edition of the Maxxus manual calls it a "residential /semi-commercial appliance" in one place and a "non-commercial sauna" in another. Golden Designs' warranty footnote ties its 5-year term to residential use, so ask which edition covers your Seattle.

Maxxus Seattle

Two people, 44 by 38 inches inside and 48 by 42 outside, with six far-infrared carbon panels on 120V, 15 amps. This is model MX-J206-01; the $4,999 Seattle is a different version. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,699, and Select Saunas and SaunaKits had sales running.

The short version: on 15 amps, the Serena, or the Seattle for more room; on a dedicated 20 amps, the Solstice 2, or the Equinox 2 for its listed 165°F and a shorter warm-up.

Best infrared sauna under $5,000

As of October 5, 2026, no Sun Home indoor model is under $5,000 at its regular price; the Solstice 1, its lowest-priced pick here, is $5,599, with a sale running that day. So on a budget under $5,000 as of that date, your list is the five Golden Designs cabins, all on 120V and 15 amps:

  • Dynamic 1 Person Compact: one person, 120V/15A, $1,499 at SaunaKits against Golden Designs' $2,999 regular price, as of Oct. 5, 2026.
  • Dynamic Barcelona: one person, 36 by 32 inches inside, 120V/15A, $3,499 as of Oct. 5, 2026.
  • Maxxus Seattle: two people, 44 by 38 inches inside, 120V/15A, $3,699 as of Oct. 5, 2026.
  • Dynamic Serena: two people, 42 by 36 inches inside, 120V/15A, $3,999 as of Oct. 5, 2026.
  • Dynamic Santorini: one to two people, full spectrum, 35 by 33 inches inside, 120V/15A, $3,999 as of Oct. 5, 2026.

All five list 140°F as the top temperature and carry the same Golden Designs warranty: 5 years on heating elements and electronics, 1 year on the wood structure, parts only. Below that line, then, you choose by headcount, inside size and heater type; the top temperature matches, and so does the warranty, apart from the Seattle's brand-name question.

Dynamic Santorini: full spectrum on a 15 amp circuit

As of October 5, 2026, the Santorini (DYN-6009-03 FS, the 2026 model) is the only full-spectrum cabin under $5,000 here. Golden Designs lists "6 Total Heaters": four far-infrared carbon heating panels and two near-infrared elements. So if you want full spectrum on a 15 amp circuit, this is the cabin; the Equinox 2, the other full-spectrum cabin here, needs 20 amps. As of that date, the price is $3,999 at Golden Designs and at Select Saunas, where a sale was running.

  • Best for: a full-spectrum cabin, far-infrared panels plus near-infrared elements as Golden Designs lists them, on a 15 amp circuit.
  • Skip it if: you want the Equinox 2's 165°F, or two adults side by side in 35 by 33 inches.
  • Main compromise: a compact interior, and a SaunaKits listing that disagrees with the maker on height.

Golden Designs rates the cabin for one to two people, at 39 by 36 by 73 inches outside and 35 by 33 by 68 inside, 250 pounds, shipped in one box. Its manual says "120VAC 15 AMP Dedicated Circuit Required," stricter than its product page, as with the Barcelona, so give it its own breaker. It shares the 140°F top and the heat-up figures of the other Golden Designs cabins.

As of October 5, 2026, SaunaKits lists it at $2,399, with no sale shown, and gives its height as 77 inches against Golden Designs' 73. Confirm the version and size with SaunaKits before you order there; if it won't confirm, Select Saunas lists it at the maker's price.

Dynamic Santorini

Full spectrum under $5,000: four far-infrared carbon panels and two near-infrared elements, per Golden Designs, on 120V, 15 amps, with 35 by 33 inches inside. As of October 5, 2026, the price is $3,999, and Select Saunas had a sale running. SaunaKits lists it at $2,399 and gives a 77 inch height against the maker's 73.

Custom-built infrared sauna: SaunaCloud, for a room no cabin fits

Every cabin above comes in one fixed size. SaunaCloud builds infrared saunas to the room instead: its custom page says "footprint and bench capacity follow your space and layout, not the model name. Your approved project drawing controls what gets built." Its models are the Atlas, the Sierra and the Atlas One.

So if no cabin fits your alcove or your odd-shaped basement, SaunaCloud's route is a sauna built to the space.

  • Best for: an odd-shaped room, a built-in, or a cabin larger than prefab models offer.
  • Skip it if: you want a plug-in cabin, a return window, or a sauna inside eight weeks.
  • Main compromise: no cancellations and no returns, and the price ranges on SaunaCloud's own pages don't agree.

SaunaCloud supplies the cedar, its VantaWave heaters, its CORE 5 power and controls, cut-to-spec wood, fasteners, junction boxes, and plans and manuals.

You supply the room or structure, the glass door and windows, "Licensed electrician work from our electrical plans" and "Labor, permits, and site prep," and assembly happens on site. Budget for those lines next to SaunaCloud's quote.

The custom page says "there is no universal breaker size for a model name." Its FAQ gives a 120V/20A dedicated circuit for small builds such as the Atlas One, for one or two people, and a 240V/30A or 50A dedicated circuit for the larger Atlas and Sierra. The same FAQ also says the Atlas One "runs on 120V standard outlet," so plan on the dedicated circuit and get the answer in your electrical plans.

SaunaCloud publishes 190°F only as a heater surface figure ("Heater surface; room air varies") and no top temperature for its own cabins, so it can't be compared with the 140°F and 165°F cabin tops above. Its FAQ says infrared saunas in general operate "at 120-145°F dry," and that heat-up takes 12 to 18 minutes with foil-faced insulation and 35 to 45 without it. Ask which insulation the written proposal includes.

The custom page gives production as about 7 to 8 weeks and promises "custom 3D renderings and a proposal in 24-48 hours." On October 1, 2026, though, the Atlas page gave 6 to 10 weeks to ship and the Atlas One page 7 to 11. Plan around the longer figures, and get the ship date into the written proposal.

As of October 5, 2026, shipping is a "Flat $999 per order, added automatically." The custom page lists no price. SaunaCloud's warranty covers "7 years on VantaWave® heaters, 3 years on power, controls, and junction boxes, and 1 year on lights, speakers, and covered accessories," and says wood, labor, diagnosis, electrician costs and replacement-part freight are not covered.

Its shipping and return policy says "All sales are final" and "Once your order is placed, cancellations are not accepted." Damage has to be reported within 14 days of final delivery.

What this means for you: the design review is where you decide, because the order can't be undone. Take SaunaCloud's proposal and its electrical plans to your electrician, and order once both fit your room. Its price ranges differ from page to page, as the confirm list below shows, so judge the build by the written proposal. Our guide to what a custom infrared sauna costs lines up the five price ranges SaunaCloud publishes, next to a prefab cabin and a pre-cut kit.

SaunaCloud custom infrared

Built to your room from an approved project drawing, with SaunaCloud's VantaWave heaters and its own power and controls; your electrician wires it from SaunaCloud's plans. The custom page lists no price, shipping is a flat $999, and all sales are final.

Best indoor sauna for home: will it fit your room?

It fits when your wall and your ceiling clear the cabin plus the maker's clearances. Sun Home asks for at least 4 inches between the sauna and the walls and 12 inches above. Golden Designs' manuals recommend "a 1” to 2” clearance around the sauna room and a 10” to 12” clearance above the sauna room."

Find your cabin in the first column, then hold the last two columns against your wall and your ceiling, since both already include the maker's clearances.

Measure tonight, from the floor to the lowest thing overhead, such as a duct or a beam, since that's the height that counts. Neither maker publishes a door swing clearance in the documents we read, so measure the space in front of the door yourself.

The room itself. Sun Home's manual wants the cabin "in a temperature-controlled room with good ventilation," says "Do not install in a closet, cabinet, or any tight, unventilated space," and gives "Ideal ambient temperature is between 70–75°F." It names "an unheated garage, basement or sun room" as rooms that slow heat-up.

Golden Designs' FAQ allows a garage, a basement or a bedroom as long as the sauna is indoors. Its manuals add: "It is not recommended to use the sauna in an environment with an ambient temperature below 60°F." So plan on a heated garage with either maker: Sun Home says an unheated one slows heat-up, and Golden Designs' line sits at 60°F. Our guide to putting a sauna in a garage covers the code side.

The floor. Sun Home lists "Tile, concrete, carpet, laminate or wood," with the sauna feet installed and the sauna level. Golden Designs' FAQ covers concrete, tile, wood and carpet.

The delivery. Sun Home's three cabins here weigh 428 to 541 pounds assembled, and its shipping policy says "delivery is curbside only." Golden Designs lists 250 to 310 pounds for the Barcelona, Santorini, Seattle and Serena, shipped in one or two boxes, and a 159 pound shipping weight for the Compact.

So line up help to move it from the curb to the room before delivery day. Sun Home's FAQ puts assembly at "1 to 2 hours with 2 people, or 2 to 3 hours alone"; Golden Designs' FAQ says two adults take about an hour.

Can your circuit run it? Power and placement checks

Yes, when the circuit matches the cabin, nothing else shares its breaker, and your electrician has settled the GFCI question for your model and local code. The chart below groups each cabin's circuit by maker, so find yours first and then work down the checks under it.

Table of the electrical circuit each infrared sauna in this guide needs, grouped by maker
From each maker's own spec sheets, manuals and pages, read October 5, 2026.

Sun Home publishes wattage for its picks: 1,350 W for the Solstice 1, 2,006 W for the Solstice 2 and 1,880 W for the Equinox 2. At 120 volts, that's about 11.25, 16.7 and 15.7 amps, by our arithmetic. Golden Designs publishes no wattage for these models on the product pages or in the four manuals we read. Work through these before you order:

  1. Find out which circuit you have. The Golden Designs picks list 120V and 15 amps. Sun Home's Solstice 1, Solstice 2 and Equinox 2 need a dedicated 120V, 20 amp circuit and come with a NEMA 5-20P plug; Sun Home's Equinox spec sheet names the matching NEMA 5-20R receptacle. SaunaCloud's builds run from 120V, 20 amps to 240V, 50 amps, set by the project's electrical plans.
  2. Dedicated means nothing else on that breaker. Sun Home's electrical overview asks for a dedicated circuit and outlet with "no other appliances on that breaker." Golden Designs' manuals say "No other appliance can be operated on the same electrical breaker as the sauna when the sauna is in use."
  3. Settle the GFCI question with your electrician. Sun Home says to "Include a GFCI or dual-function (AFCI/GFCI) breaker; check local code." Four of the five Golden Designs product pages here call the cabin "Non GFCI"; the Compact's page lists only "Electrical service: 120V/15amp." Ask which device your model and your local code call for, and why.
  4. No extension cords or power strips. Sun Home: "Plug directly into the wall outlet; no power strip, extension cord or converter." Golden Designs: "Do not use any wall receptacle adapter, surge protector, or extension cord between the sauna cord and wall outlet."
  5. Put the outlet where the cord reaches. The Solstice spec sheet places the 10 foot cord at the back left of the roof and asks for an "Indoor, dry, level surface within reach of the dedicated wall outlet."
  6. Ask Sun Home about water nearby. Sun Home's warranty page says a sauna closer than five feet to "a cold plunge, shower, bathtub, hot tub, or similar equipment" will "automatically void the warranty." That line sits in general terms headed for its blankets, red light devices, cold plunges, Eclipse, Pod, Luminar and traditional saunas, and the heading doesn't name the Solstice or Equinox. Ask Sun Home in writing whether it applies to your model.
  7. Hire the electrician. Sun Home's manual says "Have a licensed electrician install the dedicated circuit," and SaunaCloud makes licensed electrician work the buyer's job.

Hand your electrician these, from the manual for your model:

  • The model and its rated line, such as "120V / 2,006W / 20A" for the Solstice 2.
  • The plug: a NEMA 5-20P on the Sun Home cabins, which needs a NEMA 5-20R receptacle, or the 120V, 15 amp plug-in line on the Golden Designs cabins.
  • The breaker and the GFCI wording the manual uses.
  • The distance from your panel to the spot, and where the cord leaves the cabin: the back left of the roof on the Solstice, on a 10 foot cord.

On a 15 amp circuit with nothing else on it, the Serena, or the Seattle for more room, is the two-person cabin to order. If your electrician can add the 20 amp circuit, the Solstice 2 is the two-person pick once Sun Home answers the questions in the confirm section. It puts two people on that one circuit, with Sun Home's 7 years on cabinetry and heaters.

Our home sauna electrical requirements guide explains what a dedicated circuit involves, and the sauna heater breaker size and GFCI table covers traditional heaters if you're still deciding between the two.

What if you change your mind? Warranty and returns, side by side

The seller you buy from sets what a change of mind costs, from a 20% restocking fee to no return at all.

Read the Returns column for the seller you'd order from, then the Cancellation column for how long you have after you click.

SaunaCloud7 years on heaters, 3 on power, controls and junction boxes, 1 on lights, speakers and accessories; wood, labor and electrician costs not covered"All sales are final."Not accepted once the order is placed

What this means for you: pick the seller as carefully as the cabin. On the Serena at $3,999 as of October 5, 2026, Select Saunas' 20% fee would be $799.80, by our arithmetic, before shipping both ways. Sun Home takes nothing back once it's uncrated or assembled, so the measuring and the electrician's quote come before the order.

Labor differs too. Golden Designs' warranty "does not cover labor," SaunaCloud's excludes labor, and Sun Home's current Solstice and Equinox terms don't say whether labor is covered, apart from an unattached four-asterisk footnote that describes a sliding "warranty of parts and labor." So ask Sun Home in writing whether labor is covered, and plan to pay for labor on a Golden Designs or SaunaCloud repair.

One line matters at SaunaKits. On October 5, 2026, the Barcelona, Serena and Seattle showed a struck-out price there, and SaunaKits' policy says "Sale items are FINAL SALE and cannot be returned" without defining a sale item. Ask SaunaKits in writing whether your order counts before you buy. If it won't say, Select Saunas sells all three; its returns need the sauna unopened and unused, with a 20% restocking fee and shipping both ways not refunded.

What to confirm before you order: where the makers' own documents disagree

Each pair below becomes one question to send before you pay. Three can change which cabin you buy: the 8 inch gap behind the Solstice 1, the warranty on the Maxxus Seattle, and the wood and size SaunaKits ships as the Compact. The rest change which seller you use or what you get in writing. Until the answers arrive, plan around the stricter line; the questions are collected at the end, ready to paste.

Sun Home

  1. Floor heaters. The Solstice 1 and 2 spec sheets list "FLOOR HEATER None," and the product page describes heater panels "with no floor unit." Both installation guides carry a step labeled "Connect floor heaters" and say "The floor heaters will need to be connected to the right wall wires."
  2. Solstice 1 wall gap. The installation guide asks for "8 in between the back of the sauna and the walls." The spec sheet, manual and product page ask for at least 4 inches. The Solstice 2 guide says 4.
  3. Warm-up. Sun Home's FAQ says infrared saunas "typically heat up within 15–30 minutes." The Solstice manual says 45 to 60 minutes, and the Equinox manual 30 to 45.
  4. Solstice temperature. The spec sheet and manual give an operating range of 130 to 140°F, and the product page a 140°F maximum, while Sun Home's product description for the Solstice 2 says it "is rated to about 145°F." The same manual's Reservation Mode starts a session "with the temperature preset to about 151°F (66°C)."
  5. GFCI. Spec sheets, manuals and product pages say to include a GFCI or dual-function breaker. Sun Home's help-center Electrical Requirements table marks "GFCI required" only on its two Luminar rows and shows a dash for the Solstice and Equinox, and the Equinox II assembly guide linked from the Equinox 2 page has no GFCI wording.
  6. Dedicated circuit. Sun Home's Common Questions page says "Some models require a dedicated electrical circuit. Others operate using standard household outlets." Every spec sheet for these three cabins asks for a "Dedicated 120V / 20A circuit."
  7. Rated line. The Solstice spec sheets list the circuit size in the rated line ("120V / 1,350W / 20A"), while the Equinox sheet lists the draw ("120V / 1,880W / 15.67A").
  8. Warranty labels. The site banner reads "Limited Lifetime Warranty On Most Models," while the Solstice and Equinox carry a 7-year badge. The older warranty block is still headed "Equinox and Solstice Infrared Saunas Limited Lifetime Warranty," and a four-asterisk footnote describing a 3-year sliding warranty sits under the current block, though no line in that block carries four asterisks.
  9. Assembly. The FAQ says one person can assemble most indoor models in 2 to 3 hours. The Solstice manual says "Assembly takes two or more people."
  10. Stock. Every product page says "Low in stock right now." The shipping policy says "many of our sauna models are on backorder."

For Sun Home, the stricter lines are 8 inches behind the Solstice 1 and the GFCI breaker. When its written answers fit your room, order the Solstice 1 for one, the Solstice 2 for two, or the Equinox 2 if you want its listed 165°F.

See the Equinox 2 at Sun Home

Golden Designs (Dynamic and Maxxus)

  1. Outlet or circuit. Four of the five product pages say "Recommended Dedicated Outlet," and the Compact's page names no outlet. The owner's manuals say "Dedicated Circuit Required" and allow no other appliance on the same breaker while the sauna is in use. The manual is the stricter of the two, so plan the circuit to it.
  2. Warranty length. The warranty page is headed "Limited Lifetime Warranty," then reads "5 Year Limited Warranty*," then "for a period of 1 to 5 years," and its footnote defines the lifetime warranty as 5 years for residential use, adding "The wood structure has a 1 year limited warranty." The manuals give "The wood structure and glass" 1 year. The FAQ says "Our Infrared sauna products come with a 5-year warranty."
  3. The brand on the Maxxus warranty. The warranty page and every manual we read, including the Maxxus Seattle's, say "Golden Designs, Inc. under the Dynamic brand name warranties." The Maxxus manual's warranty doesn't name Maxxus.
  4. Residential or commercial. One edition of the Maxxus manual says "This is a residential /semi-commercial appliance" and, elsewhere, "This is a non-commercial sauna."

If Golden Designs confirms in writing that the warranty covers the Maxxus Seattle, you can order it on the same footing as the Serena and the Barcelona, which carry the Dynamic name the warranty uses.

See the Seattle at Select Saunas

The retailers that sell Golden Designs saunas

  1. Santorini height. Golden Designs lists 39 by 36 by 73 inches outside. SaunaKits' listing says "39″ W x 36″ D x 77″ H."
  2. The Compact. Golden Designs sells DYN-1101-01 as the "1 Person (Compact)" in "Pacific Clear Cedar," 36 by 28 by 65 inches outside and 32 by 25 by 60 inside. SaunaKits sells it as the "Dynamic Sicily," names "Canadian Hemlock wood planks" in its opening paragraph and "Pacific Clear Cedar" in its feature list, and gives 35.5 by 28 by 65 outside and 32 by 24 by 60 inside.
  3. Select Saunas' cancellation window. Its refund policy lets you cancel "within the first 12 hours after placing it," and the same section says "After the initial 24-hour period, orders cannot be canceled." The page also offers "a full refund, minus a 5% payment processing fee," while Golden Designs, Maxxus and Dynamic returns carry "A 20% restocking fee."
  4. SaunaKits' return terms. Its policy opens with "you may return it to us for a full refund or an exchange," then says "A 25% restocking fee will be charged for all returns" and "Sale items are FINAL SALE." The return email it prints ends in ".com.com," so confirm the address with SaunaKits before you send a return request.

If SaunaKits' written answers match the wood, size, version and return terms you want, order the Compact or the Santorini there. If it won't answer, Select Saunas sells the Santorini at the maker's price.

SaunaCloud

  1. Price. As of October 5, 2026, SaunaCloud's Reddit page says "Most custom residential sauna systems fall between $5,000 and $15,000+," and its FAQ prices the kit at "$5,000-$15,000+" and gives "Total installed: typically $6,000-$17,000." As of that date, its build guide puts a "Full turn-key" project at "$8,000-$20,000+ installed."
  2. Electrical. The FAQ says the Atlas One "runs on 120V standard outlet." The same FAQ lists "120V/20A dedicated circuit" for small builds, naming the Atlas One. The custom page says there is no universal breaker size for a model name.
  3. Lead time. The custom page gives production as about 7 to 8 weeks. On October 1, 2026, the Atlas page gave 6 to 10 weeks to ship, the Atlas One page 7 to 11 weeks, and another SaunaCloud page 8 to 12 weeks for the rest of the process.

With the proposal and SaunaCloud's electrical plans in hand, you can sign off on the build. If SaunaCloud won't put the circuit and the price in writing, a fixed-size cabin above avoids the question, as long as one fits your room.

Send each seller its questions in writing before you order:

  1. Sun Home: Does the five-foot water rule on your warranty page apply to the Solstice and Equinox?
  2. Sun Home: Which wall gap governs the Solstice 1, the installation guide's 8 inches or the 4 inches in the spec sheet, manual and product page?
  3. Sun Home: Does this Solstice have floor heaters to connect, as the installation guide's step says, or none, as the spec sheet says?
  4. Sun Home: Is the Solstice 2's top 140°F, as the spec sheet and manual say, or about 145°F, as the product description says?
  5. Sun Home: Does this model need a GFCI or dual-function breaker, as the spec sheet says, given the dash in your help-center table?
  6. Sun Home: Is labor covered under the current Solstice and Equinox warranty, and for how long?
  7. Sun Home: Is this model in stock or on backorder, and what delivery date can you confirm?
  8. Golden Designs: Does the warranty written for the Dynamic brand name cover the Maxxus Seattle, model MX-J206-01?
  9. Golden Designs: Which Maxxus manual edition applies to the Seattle, the "residential /semi-commercial" one or the "non-commercial" one?
  10. Golden Designs: What is the rated wattage of this model?
  11. SaunaKits: For the Dynamic Sicily (DYN-1101-01), which wood ships, and what are the outside and inside sizes?
  12. SaunaKits: Is the Santorini you list the DYN-6009-03 FS 2026 model, and is it 73 or 77 inches tall?
  13. SaunaKits: Does this order count as a sale item under your final-sale rule, and what is the correct return email address?
  14. Select Saunas: Is the cancellation window 12 hours or 24?
  15. SaunaCloud: What circuit does this build need, which insulation does it include, and what are the all-in price and ship date in the written proposal?

Before you order

  1. Settle the circuit. Get a licensed electrician's quote from the list in the power section: a dedicated 20 amp circuit for Sun Home, or a 15 amp one with nothing else on its breaker for Golden Designs.
  2. Measure tonight. Tape out the cabin's outside size with its clearances, measure to the lowest thing overhead, and check both against the room table. Measure the door swing too. If the spot is a garage, read our guide to a sauna in a garage first.
  3. Plan delivery day. Sun Home delivers curbside only, and its cabins weigh 428 to 541 pounds assembled, so line up help for the carry. The Golden Designs cabins ship in one or two boxes.
  4. Choose the seller by its return terms. The warranty table lines them up; at SaunaKits, ask whether a struck-out price makes your order final sale.
  5. Send the questions. Use the list in the confirm section, and keep the written answers with your order.
  6. One person on 15 amps: order the Barcelona. See the Barcelona at Select Saunas
  7. One person with the 20 amp circuit in: order the Solstice 1 if Sun Home's written answers fit your room. See the Solstice 1 at Sun Home
  8. Two people on 15 amps: order the Serena, or the Seattle for more room inside if Golden Designs confirms its warranty. See the Serena at Select Saunas
  9. Two people with the 20 amp circuit in: order the Solstice 2, or the Equinox 2 for its listed 165°F. See the Solstice 2 at Sun Home
  10. A room no cabin fits: start a SaunaCloud design, and order once the proposal and the electrical plans check out. See SaunaCloud custom infrared saunas

Common questions

Can an infrared sauna plug into a regular outlet?

It depends on the outlet. Golden Designs' Dynamic and Maxxus picks here run on 120V, 15 amps; four of their five product pages say "plug & play" with a "Recommended Dedicated Outlet," while their manuals say "Dedicated Circuit Required." Sun Home's Solstice 1, Solstice 2 and Equinox 2 also run on 120V but need a dedicated 20 amp circuit and a NEMA 5-20 receptacle. Neither maker allows an extension cord or a power strip.

How long does an infrared sauna take to heat up?

Sun Home's manuals give 45–60 minutes for the Solstice and 30–45 minutes for the Equinox, while Sun Home's FAQ says 15–30 minutes. Golden Designs' manuals give about 20 minutes to reach 100°F from a room above 70°F, 35–40 minutes to about 125–130°F, and 45–60 minutes to about 135°F. Sun Home's manual says a room below normal room temperature increases warm-up time.

Can you put an infrared sauna in a garage or basement?

Golden Designs' FAQ says a garage or basement is fine as long as the sauna is indoors, and its manuals advise against use below 60°F ambient. Sun Home's manual wants a temperature-controlled room with good ventilation and names an unheated garage, basement or sun room as slowing heat-up. Our garage sauna guide covers the code questions.

What size infrared sauna do I need for 2 people?

Compare interior width and depth. Sun Home lists 45.4 by 39.9 inches inside the Solstice 2 and Equinox 2. Golden Designs lists 44 by 38 for the Maxxus Seattle and 42 by 36 for the Dynamic Serena. Its "1-2 person" Barcelona and Santorini are 35 to 36 inches wide inside, and Golden Designs calls the Barcelona "Ideal for 1 Person."

Can I return an infrared sauna?

Sun Home accepts returns within 30 days of delivery if the sauna is unused and unopened, with a 25% restocking fee plus shipping both ways. Golden Designs, bought direct, charges a 20% handling and restocking fee plus shipping both ways. Select Saunas charges 20% on Golden Designs, Maxxus and Dynamic saunas. Is there a Sun Home infrared sauna under $5,000?

No cabin at the regular price. As of October 5, 2026, no Sun Home indoor sauna cabin had a regular price under $5,000. The Solstice 1, the lowest-priced Sun Home pick in this guide, was $5,599, and Sun Home had a sale running. Every Golden Designs pick in this guide lists under $5,000.

Your next step

Tonight, take three numbers where the sauna would go: wall to wall, the depth, and the floor to the lowest thing overhead. Then photograph your electrical panel for the electrician, and walk the path from the curb to the room.

The free Home Performance Room Planner covers ceiling height, wall space, the outlet and the delivery path, whether the sauna goes in a spare room, a basement or the garage. For a closer look at one maker, read our Sun Home sauna review.

We read the makers' and sellers' own documents cited above, checked October 1 to 5, 2026, and did not test these saunas. This is general information, not electrical, code or medical advice, so confirm the details with the maker and a licensed electrician. Home Performance Guide earns a commission on our Sun Home, Select Saunas, SaunaKits and SaunaCloud links, at no extra cost to you. Links to the makers' and sellers' documents earn us nothing (affiliate disclosure, editorial standards).
